From the Principal
Welcome to Starmont Elementary – an excellent place to learn and grow!
Starmont Elementary is a learning community of about 350 students. We serve children in junior kindergarten through grade six. We also offer an Early Childhood Special Education program for three through five year-olds with special needs and a morning and afternoon 4-year-old preschool. Additionally, daycare is offered opposite the two preschool sessions. Programs that supplement our core curriculum include Talented and Gifted, Reading Recovery, Title I Reading, and Special Education. Our students also participate in Physical Education, Art, Media, Guidance, Vocal Music and Band.
We, at Starmont Elementary, strive to provide children with the strong foundation needed to be successful, happy, healthy adults. We have a positive and caring climate in which parents, staff and administration collaborate to ensure quality educational opportunities. Increasing student achievement is an on-going goal that is pursued through professional development, examination of achievement data, and research-based learning strategies.
Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) and Character Counts are important initiatives within our every day curriculum. Building the traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, citizenship, and caring has been a focus for us. We are proud of how well our kids have learned and integrated each trait into their daily lives.
Please feel free to stop in and visit us when your schedule allows. We are excited about the learning opportunities taking place in our school. We would enjoy sharing them with you!
